Dr. Yao's Table Calculated from BaZi: Construction and Interpretation

Dr. Yao's table is a visual tool that allows analysis of the distribution of the Five Elements from the 8 characters of BaZi (4 Heavenly Stems and 4 Earthly Branches).

It is created from the cycle of nutritive energy Ying Qi (营氣), which starts from the hour 寅 yin (Lung, 3 am to 5 am), then 卯 mao (Large Intestine, 5 am to 7 am), 辰 chen (Stomach, 7 am to 9 am), 巳 si (Spleen, 9 am to 11 am), etc.

We place a circle corresponding to each of the stems and branches of the chart in a 12-box table, distributed according to the Five Elements Wood, with Fire divided into Ministerial Fire and Sovereign Fire:

  • Each Heavenly Stem corresponds to one of the ZangFu of the Five Elements.
  • Each Earthly Branch corresponds to the time of a Zang or Fu organ.

Dr. Yao's table reflects our functioning, as the information from the 4 pillars of the hour, day, month, and year are represented there.
